Garden 1

Villa JoMar


16 Lawrence Road, Kenthurst

The section round the house is in a formal style with numerous pots and urns, extensive hedging and outdoor living areas. Further away are large raised vegetable beds and large collections of bulbs and perennials in interesting stone edged sections. These lead into a section of Australian natives which blends into the native bush at the rear of the property with extensive exposed rock shelves.

Garden 2

Callooh Callay


5 Laurie Road, Dural

A large perennial garden in the English style including a tiered area with geraniums, dianthus and varieties of thyme. This is a collector’s garden which includes more than 300 heritage and modern roses, 200 iris and 90 clematis varieties and lots of other interesting plants. The more shaded areas include collections of begonias, bromeliads and camellias. Any plant lover will be delighted by this fascinating range of material.

Inchyra


10 Belbowrie Close, Galston

This is a steeply sloping block which has been terraced and the poor soil area at the front of the house planted with natives. The eastern end of the house is enhanced by a more formal gardening style. Stairs lead down from the entrance past a small waterfall to a formal? area including a walkway featuring arches with climbing roses and perennial beds. The western end has been adapted to a less formal fernery approach under the shade of large eucalypts.
Steep access. Not suitable for wheelchairs.

Willow Glen


2 Marakesh Place, Arcadia

An informal rustic garden with large rock shelves and old native trees. A watercourse across the property feeds a large dam with water lilies which provides the centrepiece for the outdoor living
areas. Bridges, seats and a children’s play area add interest to the garden, and there is a fully mesh-
enclosed productive garden with self-watering raised beds which will be of interest to food growers.

Garden 5

Jenkeila


75 Cobah Road, Arcadia

Within a bush setting this garden is established over huge rock outcrops which have been terraced and
the different levels connected by bridges and paths. There are several ponds and waterfalls and many outdoor living areas with pergolas and seats,
and a large collection of bromeliads, orchids, palms, cordylines, brugmansias and natives. Areas are also devoted to cottage garden
plants and vegetable and fruit growing. Supervised parking at end of long driveway. Not suitable for large buses.

L’hirondelle


25 Harrisons Lane, Glenorie

A long tree lined drive, under planted with bulbs, and manicured box hedges, lead you to this well established park like five acre garden.
Sweeping lawns and mature trees form the setting for wide flowing garden beds filled with roses, perennials and small shrubs. Features
include a Japanese Garden, a Parterre of roses, a woodland garden filled with dry shade plants, natives, citrus groves and other fruit trees, and a vegie garden.
Stalls. Toilet. Morning and Afternoon Teas

Garden 7

Alpine Trees


43 Moores Road, Glenorie

A formal garden with stone-walled beds, hedges and raised urns surrounds the house, with a wide range of shrubs and ground
covers. Scattered through the garden are large deciduous trees and conifers which have been brought in as advanced plants. Adjoining is
the Alpine Treemovals Nursery where you can inspect some of the thousands of advanced plants in huge pots up to 3000 litres. This is
an aspect of the nursery industry which most people never see and it is well worth a visit.

Garden 8

Pepper Ridge


3170 Old Northern Road, Glenorie

A large garden maintained without access to town water, but with a wide range of interesting garden rooms linked by gravel paths and hedging. There are many pergolas, garden seats and outdoor living areas, with children’s play areas including a large teepee. Central to the garden is a pond with a flowering watercourse. Plantings include lots of interesting trees, shrubs, and bulbs. Toilet.

Saturday and Sunday ONLY

Royal Horticultural Society Show in the Galston Community Centre, 37 Arcadia Road, Galston.

Open 10 am to 4 pm on both days. $2 admission
Huge range of Floral art, potted plants, fruit, vegetables and many classes of cut flowers including a major rose display. Entries are welcome from members of the public. All items to be delivered before 8.30 am on the Saturday morning.

Tickets are available on the open days October 14th, 15th, 16th 2016 at the Galston Club, 21 Arcadia Road, or at any of the gardens. An inclusive ticket for $20 per person gives entrance to all the gardens (valid for three days), OR entrance to a single garden is $5 per person. Children under 18 years admitted free.
